About the position

The Sr. Scrum Master plays a pivotal role in guiding teams to effectively utilize Agile and Scrum methodologies to meet customer needs. This position is primarily focused on coaching teams to adhere to Scrum processes, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. The Scrum Master will facilitate daily stand-ups and support the team in following the Scrum delivery process, which is essential for maintaining the rhythm of Agile practices. In addition to facilitating Scrum ceremonies, the Sr. Scrum Master will handle traditional project management duties, which include defining project scope, staffing, and communicating status updates to clients and partners. Risk and issue management are also critical components of this role, requiring the Scrum Master to consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements. The role involves authoring user stories and acceptance criteria, as well as executing a portion of the testing on projects. The Scrum Master will serve both the team and the product owner by transforming requirements into working software, ensuring that product quality expectations are clearly defined and understood across the team. Collaboration is key, as the Scrum Master will work with the team to schedule work, including defect remediation and refactoring, while guarding against the accumulation of technical debt. Furthermore, evaluating data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements is an important aspect of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily stand-ups and support the team in following the Scrum delivery process.
  • Handle traditional project management duties including scope definition, staffing, communication of status to clients and partners, and risk/issue management.
  • Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
  • Author user stories, acceptance criteria, and execute a portion of the testing on projects.
  • Serve the team and product owner in turning requirements into working software.
  • Ensure product quality expectations are defined and known across the team.
  • Collaborate with the team in scheduling work, including defect remediation and refactoring, guarding against the accumulation of technical debt.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • 6-8 years of experience required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as Visual Basic, Java, SQL, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
  • ScrumMaster Certification preferred but not required.
  • Large corporate banking experience.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating complex systems.
