About the position

The Senior Scrum Master plays a pivotal role in guiding teams through the Agile process, ensuring that Agile principles and practices are effectively applied to deliver high-quality products. This position requires a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, and the ability to facilitate various Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. The Senior Scrum Master will work closely with product owners and stakeholders to refine user stories and ensure that the team is focused on delivering value in each iteration. In addition to facilitating Agile processes, the Senior Scrum Master is responsible for coaching team members on Agile best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This includes identifying areas for improvement within the team and implementing strategies to enhance team performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and will be able to influence and motivate team members to achieve their goals while maintaining a servant leadership approach. The Senior Scrum Master will also be expected to leverage their programming or development experience to better understand the technical aspects of the projects and to communicate effectively with development teams. This role requires a proactive mindset, with the ability to challenge the team to step outside of their comfort zones and embrace new ways of working. Overall, the Senior Scrum Master is a key player in driving Agile transformation within the organization and ensuring successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Guide teams through the Agile process and ensure adherence to Agile principles and practices.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with product owners to refine user stories and prioritize the backlog.
  • Coach team members on Agile best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the team and implement strategies to enhance performance.
  • Leverage programming or development experience to communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • Challenge the team to improve and operate outside their comfort zones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Scrum Master or similar Agile role.
  • Experience applying Agile principles and practices, including delivery of several epics, releases, and versions.
  • Programming/development experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing best practices and standards related to Agile product development.
  • Experience leading others and earning trust while challenging the team.
