About the position

The Sr. Shared Services Operations Specialist position at Assurant, Inc. is a fully remote role that requires candidates to reside in Georgia, Florence, SC, or Springfield, OH. This position is primarily responsible for processing and researching loan items, which includes handling checks and performing various monetary transactions. The specialist will correspond with customers, clients, and agents through phone and email, ensuring effective communication and resolution of inquiries. In this role, the specialist will perform essential job functions such as processing checks, payments, and maintenance tasks, as well as conducting basic analysis or research. The responsibilities extend to executing monetary transactions, which may involve posting deposits to the client servicing system, processing premium payments, updating insurance data, balancing and sending wire disbursements, and transmitting stop pay requests directly to financial institutions. The specialist will also analyze and resolve issues related to disbursements by reviewing system transactions, checks, reports, and responding to phone or written inquiries. The position requires the use of computerized systems for tracking and troubleshooting items raised by clients, insurance companies, or customers. The specialist will work across multi-functional areas with various clients and must possess the knowledge and ability to handle more detailed and complex analysis or research for loans. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for managing escalated issues and transactions that require specialized knowledge and skills. They will also serve as a backup for the Team Lead in assigning work and handling escalated tasks, as well as assisting in training Shared Services Specialists on specific processes. This is a full-time position with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST, and offers a competitive pay range of $18.23 to $29.17, depending on the candidate's background, experience, and work location.

Responsibilities

  • Processing checks and payments, including maintenance and basic analysis or research.
  • Performing monetary transactions such as posting deposits, processing premium payments, and updating insurance data.
  • Balancing and sending wire disbursements and transmitting stop pay requests to financial institutions.
  • Analyzing and resolving issues related to disbursements through review of system transactions and inquiries.
  • Using computerized systems for tracking and troubleshooting client inquiries.
  • Working in multi-functional areas with multiple clients.
  • Handling detailed and complex analysis/research for loans.
  • Managing escalated issues and transactions requiring specialized knowledge.
  • Serving as a backup for the Team Lead in assignment of work and escalated tasks.
  • Assisting in training Shared Services Specialists on specific processes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Positive attitude and desire to learn.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Data entry/document processing experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and professional etiquette.
