About the position

The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer at Visa is responsible for ensuring the security and availability of the company's environments, which support a vast number of transactions globally. This role involves remediating security findings, conducting root cause analysis, deploying new code, and automating manual tasks to enhance self-healing capabilities. The engineer will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with teams across multiple locations and managing activities according to incident and change management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the environment is secure and safe, remediating all security findings within required resolution dates.
  • Prevent outages and ensure environments are operational at all times, performing root cause analysis within hours of any issues.
  • Track all activities planned or occurring in the environments as the owner of the environment.
  • Deploy new code in the environment and analyze the environment regularly for improvements.
  • Automate manual tasks to increase self-heal capabilities of the environments.
  • Collaborate with product developers for planning when new services are introduced or when migrating old environments to new technologies.
  • Work in shifts to synchronize with multiple locations and tracks, ensuring all activities are recorded according to incident or change management processes.
  • Prepare and share technical run books with the team.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree; OR 5 years relevant work experience.
  • 3 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • IT experience with expertise in DevOps, Build and Release Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, and Automation.
  • Ability to work as a team player with good written and communication skills.
  • Punctuality and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate effectively.
  • Fast learner with the ability to implement the latest technology trends.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD technologies.
  • Core skills in Docker, DevOps, and Linux.
  • Experience with Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in Java-based web applications and troubleshooting Java applications in Tomcat services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Shell scripting, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Experience in creating Docker containers and images, and writing Docker files.
  • Participation in release level discussions and familiarity with the total SDLC and Agile methodology.
