About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Farmers is responsible for maintaining reliable, scalable, and high-performance systems and services within the Site Reliability Services team. This role focuses on automating and administering support for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms, ensuring compliance with various standards, and providing on-call support. The SRE will work collaboratively with multiple teams to enhance the scalability and reliability of server infrastructure, while also adapting to new automation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Automate High Availability and Disaster Recovery for all production platforms.
  • Act as a liaison between DBA, Network, Security, and Cloud Engineering Teams.
  • Support vulnerability management by scanning, automating, and remediating vulnerabilities.
  • Perform backup and restores using Rubrik.
  • Support and maintain PCI, SOX, SOC 2, NACHA compliance.
  • Build and maintain immutable OS images as per CIS standards.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and escalate issues as needed.
  • Quickly adapt to new automation technologies and implement them.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of related experience required.
  • Experience managing Linux and Windows OS across private cloud and AWS.
  • Experience with Redhat suite of tools and Ansible automation.
  • Good understanding of IaC tools like Terraform or Crossplane.
  • Experience incorporating PCI, SOX, SOC2 controls related to OS hardening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing, building, and maintaining VMware templates and Amazon AMIs.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Red Hat Satellite servers.
  • AWS or Azure cloud experience.
  • Experience performing regular backups, data replication, and disaster recovery tests using Rubrik.
