About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Farmers is a key role within the Site Reliability Services team, responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and high performance of systems and services. This position involves automating and administering IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms, managing both Linux and Windows operating systems, and supporting compliance and audit requirements. The SRE will also participate in on-call support and collaborate with various teams to enhance system performance and security.

Responsibilities

• Automate the provisioning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Automate High Availability and Disaster Recovery for all production platforms.
• Act as a liaison between DBA, Network, Security, and Cloud Engineering Teams.
• Support vulnerability management by scanning, automating, and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Perform backup and restores using Rubrik.
• Support and maintain PCI, SOX, SOC 2, NACHA compliance.
• Build and maintain immutable OS images as per CIS standards.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and escalate issues as needed.
• Quickly adapt to new automation technologies and implement them.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of related experience required.
• Experience managing Linux and Windows OS across private cloud and AWS.
• Experience with Redhat suite of tools and Ansible automation.
• Good understanding of IaC tools like Terraform or Crossplane.
• Experience incorporating PCI, SOX, SOC2 controls related to OS hardening.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience developing, building, and maintaining VMware templates and Amazon AMIs.
• Experience configuring block/file/object storage technologies on operating systems.
• AWS or Azure cloud experience.
• Technical certifications are a plus.
