About the position

The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Security role at Apple Services Engineering focuses on ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of critical systems and infrastructure that support Apple's services. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement security measures, incident response protocols, and automation tools, while driving the adoption of security standards across the organization. The role is integral to maintaining the high quality of Apple Services and involves working closely with the ASE Security development team to enhance security services.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security measures for systems and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall security posture.
• Define and advocate for a common set of minimum security requirements.
• Drive the adoption of security practices and tools across engineering teams.
• Measure progress and iterate on security standards based on real-world challenges.
• Ensure the reliability and scalability of security services.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization.
• Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Golang, Java, or Rust.
• Deep knowledge of Linux security primitives, systemd, packaging, container security, and SELinux.
• Experience running Tier 1 services for 24/7 support.

Nice-to-haves

• Proven experience with large scale, highly available, distributed, and fault tolerant systems.
• Excellent understanding of operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking, and storage.
• Understanding of SRE principles, including monitoring, alerting, error budgets, and fault analysis.
• Familiarity with MacOS security primitives.
