About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Visa is responsible for supporting the CyberSource applications, ensuring their reliability and performance in production and staging environments. This role involves troubleshooting production issues, providing root cause analyses, and enhancing key applications within the CyberSource transaction platform. The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication with both technical and non-technical teams, and a commitment to improving application reliability and quality.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze requirements from Product Managers/Owners
• Acquire deep knowledge on multiple applications to support them independently
• Work closely with Operations & Infrastructure groups to understand production challenges
• Build tools to improve application reliability and programmer productivity
• Partner with teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix customer-impacting issues
• Design and enhance scalable and fault-tolerant systems
• Provide architectural recommendations for application serviceability
• Lead issue postmortems and provide quality metrics for quality initiatives
• Understand and adhere to SOA and messaging principles
• Author technical specifications and design documents
• Work on both server-side and UI-side modules
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Expertise in Java and Java EE with experience in large scale enterprise applications
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and container-based technologies
• Deep analytical skills and ability to work under pressure
• Understanding of XML parsing and XML schema design
• Knowledge of SOA principles and Web Services
• Experience building fault-tolerant, scalable systems
• Familiarity with IBM Websphere, Tomcat, or JBoss
• Strong experience with Agile development and CI/CD tools
• Proficient in Windows/Unix platforms and understanding of network and security
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to solve complex systems and database issues
• Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk or equivalent
• Performance tuning experience with load testing tools
• Production support experience
• Payment Gateway experience preferred
• Relational database design and optimization skills
• Knowledge of Credit Card and/or Electronic Check processing
• Experience analyzing Java thread/heap dumps
