About the position

The WAF (Web Application Firewall) team is responsible for developing and maintaining a highly available, low latency distributed system that protects web applications from various attacks. This role involves leading the design, development, and deployment of AWS WAF, ensuring seamless integration with other AWS services while providing customers with the tools to configure firewall policies effectively. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to innovate in a space with no established precedents.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and support of AWS WAF.
• Research and create unique solutions for web application security.
• Interact with customers to gather requirements and provide operational support.
• Work closely with Software Development Engineers, Product Managers, and Data Scientists to deliver advanced ML-based capabilities.
• Ensure high availability and low latency in the distributed system.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, and testing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
