About the position

We build tools and services for new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our mission is to give our customers best-in-class DevOps services to manage their code, build and deployments within OCI. We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in building DevOps Source Code Management platform for our customers. As a Software Engineer 3, you will participate in the design and development of OCI DevOps Source Code Management Services. You should be a rock solid coder and have a passion to learn new technologies. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You should have a bias for action and should be willing to take ownership of a problem and solve it to completion. As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture. The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. As a Software Engineer, you will work with a team of software engineers responsible for the software design, development, and operations of OCI DevOps services. You should be able to understand broad systems interactions, be hands-on, be able to dive deep into any part of the stack, and have a good sense of cloud infrastructure and networking knowledge. You should value simplicity and impact, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and productive; someone who knows how to balance speed and quality with iterative and incremental improvements. You understand operational excellence and know-how to infuse a culture of being proactive within your team and is willing to support on-call. You have the ability to recommend and justify changes to new and existing products and establish consensus with data-driven approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, etc.
  • Assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems.
  • Provide technical leadership to other software developers.
  • Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience delivering and operating large software systems at scale.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in at least one (preferably two) of the following languages: Java, Python, C/C++, C# or Golang.
  • Strong grasp of computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems fundamentals).
  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and standard network architectures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills.
  • Working familiarity with the UNIX operating system and related tools.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
