About the position

As a Software Development Engineer in the AWS Utility Computing (UC) organization, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing various services including Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, and Productivity Apps. You will be responsible for defining system architecture, implementing components, and ensuring a high-quality customer experience through collaboration with UX Designers, Product Managers, and Software Development Engineers. This position emphasizes full-stack software development, focusing on automating product and price generation while mentoring other developers and contributing to the overall success of AWS services.

Responsibilities

  • Help define the system architecture and implement specific components.
  • Own and operate the systems built based on real-time customer data.
  • Collaborate closely with UX Designers, Product Managers, and Software Development Engineers.
  • Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement.
  • Take responsibility for technical problem-solving and developing best practices.
  • Write high-quality, efficient, testable code in Java, Python, Javascript, and TypeScript.
  • Design tools to facilitate internal business processes.
  • Build highly available, secure systems that handle confidential billing data.
  • Mentor and support the growth of other developers.
  • Engineer systems for 'Amazon Scale'.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and code reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
