About the position

The Sr Data Engineer at CVS Health plays a crucial role in transforming healthcare through innovative data solutions. This position involves working with extensive healthcare data to create and manage data pipelines, ensuring data is securely stored, processed, and enriched. The role emphasizes collaboration with various teams to enhance the member experience and drive data-driven business decisions, all while adhering to CVS Health's commitment to human-centric healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with complex business challenges to harness modern tools and technologies for data management.
  • Build and manage data pipelines within major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Make architectural decisions on both UI and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with Data Science & Products team to understand operations workflow and requirements.
  • Optimize business operations through automation and innovation.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and solicit complex requirements.
  • Independently manage deliverables and ensure timely completion.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Big data and cloud architecture.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building modern data pipelines within a major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • 2+ years of experience with deployment/scaling of apps in containerized environments (Kubernetes, AKS) and serverless compute services.
  • 5+ years of experience with real-time and streaming technology (Azure Event Hubs, Azure Functions, Kafka, Spark Streaming).
  • 1+ years of experience working with LLMs and other Gen AI models.
  • 4+ years of experience soliciting complex requirements and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, NoSQL, and Python (or a comparable scripting language).
  • 5+ years of experience with ETL/ELT and building high-volume data pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in designing and building data engineering solutions in cloud environments (preferably GCP).
  • Experience with API/Microservices development.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipeline, and other DevOps principles/best practices.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies including waterfall and agile.
  • Google Professional Data Engineer/Architect Certification.
