As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Platform team at Tesla, you will be joining a small group of experts dedicated to building and enhancing Tesla's data platforms that are integral to all Tesla products, including vehicles, solar panels, batteries, chargers, robots, autopilot systems, and insurance. At Tesla, we embrace First Principles thinking, which is a fundamental aspect of our engineering culture. Data plays a crucial role in our operations, allowing us to understand and improve the functionality and interaction of our products with the world. This data is utilized to enhance autopilot capabilities, optimize hardware designs, proactively detect faults, and even manage load on the electrical grid. We gather data from a variety of sources, including our cars, superchargers, batteries, robots, manufacturing machines, and their environments, to make our products more reliable and cost-effective to produce. Your role will be pivotal within the product organization, as you will be working on a cutting-edge platform that processes terabytes of IoT data daily. You will collaborate with engineering teams to enhance our products in various ways. The platform you will help develop will facilitate seamless access to both raw and aggregated data, empowering users with insights. Our highly automated stack is built on open-source technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, Parquet, Presto, and Trino. We are looking for a talented engineer who can deliver new and improved big data services that will impact hundreds of Tesla engineers and enhance the functionality of our products globally, paving the way for new data-driven offerings like Tesla Insurance.
