About the position

The Senior Software Engineer at Nordstrom will play a crucial role in building scalable and sustainable solutions for the Product Platform Engineering team. This position focuses on developing the Product Information Management system, which is essential for automating product data ingestion and standardizing information flow within the Nordstrom ecosystem. The role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and the application of best engineering practices in a cloud-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidimensional projects involving multiple teams.
  • Work with other software engineers on design best practices and conduct code reviews.
  • Resolve complex engineering problems through collaboration.
  • Facilitate cross-functional troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Create, evaluate, and contribute to feature detailed designs.
  • Design, develop, and implement software utilizing an agile project cycle.
  • Mentor junior developers and enhance technical knowledge across the team.
  • Apply knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of industry experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Java utilizing the Spring Boot framework.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks and libraries such as React.
  • Proficiency in CSS and TypeScript.
  • Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and NoSQL.
  • Experience with RESTful architecture and micro-services.
  • Experience with cloud-based services such as AWS.
  • DevOps knowledge with CI/CD.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing near real-time data processing solutions utilizing Kafka.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies and tooling.
  • Retail domain or ecommerce knowledge preferred.
