About the position

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Video Analytics team at Vimeo, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and optimizing the full-stack systems that power our customer-facing analytics application. This position involves tackling challenges related to massive datasets and ensuring the platform remains performant and scalable, ultimately empowering creators worldwide. You will work in a collaborative, agile environment, contributing to sophisticated solutions that directly impact the success of our users.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimize the frontend and backend systems that power Vimeo's customer-facing analytics application.
• Build and maintain robust and scalable APIs that deliver data efficiently to the frontend.
• Design and implement efficient database queries to extract and aggregate meaningful insights from massive datasets.
• Collaborate with other engineers to ensure seamless integration and data delivery between frontend and backend components.
• Contribute to the evolution of our tech stack with a focus on performance and reliability, which includes React with TypeScript, PHP APIs, and Scala RPCs.
• Mentor and guide other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on full-stack development.
• Demonstrable understanding of frontend and backend architecture, performance optimization, and scalability.
• Proven experience working with large analytical datasets.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: PHP, Scala, JS/TS.
• A working knowledge of kubernetes and gRPCs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
• A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and a drive to deliver high-quality results.
