About the position

The Sr. Software Quality Assurance Engineer/Tester at Parsons is responsible for collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to create comprehensive test plans aimed at identifying software issues and their underlying causes. This role involves working as part of a model-based system engineering team, providing expertise in test plans and software automation engineering to deliver features across various products. The ideal candidate will advocate for best practices in testing and coding methodologies, ensuring high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to create test plans that identify software problems and their causes.
  • Design, develop, and integrate test and evaluation techniques into automation frameworks.
  • Identify poor performing software and implement fixes to increase reliability.
  • Log defects and test the scalability of systems, providing status reports on task progress.
  • Advise and build automation scripts (unit, integration, end-to-end, UI) ensuring code coverage and quality.
  • Create, execute, improve, and maintain automation test scripts through standard methodologies.
  • Monitor test results for swift feedback and participate in peer code reviews.
  • Advocate and evangelize good testing practices and coding methodologies.

Requirements

  • Solid programming background with experience in C, C++, Java, J2SE, XML, and Visual Basic Suite.
  • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, data structures, and Object Oriented programming.
  • Experience with the Windows Development Environment and commonly used programming languages.
  • Experience conducting end-to-end testing of large or complex systems.
  • Experience analyzing performance, security, availability, stability, and efficiency of systems.
  • Experience validating and verifying application functionality against customer specified requirements.
  • Good understanding of QA methodologies and hands-on experience developing test scripts for functional, performance, and regression testing.

  • USCYBERCOM experience
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare, Xen, OpenStack, VirtualBox)
  • Experience developing automated test harnesses
  • Experience with RVTM, FAT, Acceptance Testing, and other formal testing procedures and documentation
  • Understanding and experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
