About the position

The Sr Solution Engineer in the Finance Data Solutions team is responsible for understanding customer needs and translating them into practical, scalable solutions that align with business and technology strategies. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that support various financial reporting and regulatory requirements, utilizing tools such as SQL, DBeaver, Alteryx, and SAS.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in requirements sessions with stakeholders and convert business requirements into functional solutions.
  • Investigate problems and develop recommendations for resolution.
  • Monitor testing processes to ensure business results are adequately tested with minimal risk.
  • Evaluate upstream changes and identify dependencies and impacts on established processes.
  • Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with business partners.
  • Communicate with upstream data providers and downstream data consumers.
  • Support ad-hoc data investigative analysis.
  • Manage project tasks within scope, quality, and timeframe.
  • Conduct source system/data analysis and data profiling, identifying trends in data and creating business solutions using data visualizations.
  • Data mapping from source to target and defining transformation rules that meet models created by Data Architects.
  • Follow change management stipulations on path to production requirements and adhere to compliance and regulatory needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Data Engineer/Business Analyst.
  • Excellent skills in SQL development.
  • Strong analytical skills to recognize data patterns and identify solutions.
  • Experience in data mapping, data profiling, and performing statistical analysis of data.
  • Proficient in data mining to extract information and identify correlations.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications including JIRA, Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a data-related field.
