About the position

As the premier provider of Space Domain Awareness mission solutions for the United States Space Force, L3Harris is seeking a Database Developer/Administrator to provide database development and administration support to the Advanced Tracking and Launch Analysis System (ATLAS). This role involves developing required capabilities and delivering those capabilities for integration and testing. The ideal candidate should be team-focused and accustomed to working in an agile team environment. Candidates should have experience as a Database Developer/Administrator and possess the required skills, including current Agile software practices (Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps), knowledge of the Space Domain Awareness mission, and a desire to learn new technologies as needed. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO and requires a TS/SCI Security Clearance. The Database Developer/Administrator will be responsible for maintaining a strong command of SQL, advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards. The role requires an understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to set and maintain database standards. Performance tuning of database systems, diagnosing and troubleshooting database errors, and providing on-site support and monitoring of classified systems are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the candidate must be available for on-call support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide database development and administration support to the Advanced Tracking and Launch Analysis System (ATLAS).
  • Develop required capabilities and deliver those capabilities for integration and testing.
  • Maintain a strong command of SQL and advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Set and maintain database standards and perform performance tuning of database systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors and provide on-site support and monitoring of classified systems.
  • Be available for on-call support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field.
  • Active Secret clearance but ability to attain a Top Secret/SCI clearance upon hire.
  • Knowledgeable in the full software development lifecycle from requirements elicitation to deployment.
  • Thorough understanding of software engineering principles and industry best practices, including Agile development.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to potentially include duties in other technical disciplines.

Nice-to-haves

  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Experience maintaining production-level systems a plus.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus.
  • DoD 8570 compliant, CompTIA Security+ certification a plus.
