About the position

The Senior Specialist, Integration & Test Engineer will play a crucial role in the assembly, integration, and testing of space payloads and vehicles within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) business unit of L3Harris Corporation. This position is set in a fast-paced environment that demands high expectations and diverse assignments, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere. The engineer will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of space mission payloads, from program inception through to test verification, ensuring that all integration and testing efforts align with customer-funded programs. In this role, the Integration & Test Engineer will define complex test strategies to verify payload capabilities, working closely with various internal organizations and subcontractors. The engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for government customers regarding test and integration planning, coordinating across multiple government and stakeholder offices to develop comprehensive test and evaluation plans. This position is integral to enhancing information superiority and contributing to national security through high-reliability airborne and space-based remote sensing payloads. The engineer will also be responsible for generating essential system test documentation, including Test Requirements Documents, Test Design Documents, and Test Procedures. They will lead support personnel in executing system test and integration readiness tasks, manage complex project initiatives, and support all phases of the system lifecycle, including design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, verification, validation, and delivery. The role requires experience with RF measurements and testing, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions as necessary. Extended hours and travel may be required during critical phases of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Generate system test documentation including Test Requirements Documents, Test Design Documents, and Test Procedures.
  • Direct support personnel in the execution of system test and integration readiness tasks for Space Payload and/or Space Vehicles.
  • Support all phases of the system lifecycle for Space Payloads and Space Vehicles Systems.
  • Manage medium, complex project initiatives involving large cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct RF measurements and testing using tools such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and Logic Analyzers.
  • Set up specific test configurations and develop test procedures for Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).
  • Support lab setups and development of ground-based missions from inception to test verification and deployment.
  • Assist in the root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective action processes as required.
  • Travel as needed for post-delivery support and integration activities.
  • Work extended and weekend hours during Integration & Test phases of the program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or applicable Engineering Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.
  • 4 years of experience working on aerospace/defense systems (space payloads, spacecraft bus, space vehicle integration with End-to-End Testing).
  • Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience executing space vehicle hardware verification testing at acceptance, proto-flight, and qualification levels for all relevant environments (vibration, thermal, vacuum, acoustics).
  • Experience with Space Vehicle Bus testing.
  • Experience working with multi-discipline technical teams (mechanical, structural, thermal, power, RF, Antenna, electrical, Systems) through all phases of the program.
  • Experience integrating, testing, and verifying small sub-assemblies into large, complex systems.
  • Experience with Cosmos, Ruby, InControl or other Satellite/Telemetry Tracking & Control (TT&C) Scripting languages.
  • Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g. Java, Python, Perl, PuTTy, MobaXTerm, Visual Studio code).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a technical information environment.
  • Experience with requirements derivation and tracking using DOORs (or equivalent).
  • Experience executing government or commercial, firm-fixed price development programs for space.
