About the position

The Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer I role at Systems, LLC involves participating in problem-solving activities to improve manufacturing processes and quality systems. The position requires applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to enhance productivity and operational performance. The successful candidate will support various engineering projects, manage safety audits, and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in problem-solving for systemic improvement activities and root cause analysis for critical quality issues and productivity issues.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to improve manufacturing, material flow, and overall process performance.
  • Support and track Quality System Tools and procedures to improve operational KPIs and solve quality-related problems.
  • Assist in problem-solving activities related to major downtime, quality, or safety issues by analyzing BOMs and interpreting engineering specifications.
  • Calculate monthly staffing according to demand and process capacity for the area of responsibility.
  • Implement productivity projects related to labor, overhead, and material through engineering tools and process automation opportunities.
  • Audit operational safety risks and apply ergonomic principles to manufacturing processes.
  • Manage and lead projects from start to finish, developing schedules to meet target implementation dates.
  • Develop capacity scenarios and business cases for capital investment, creating and managing CPRs to achieve committed goals and budgets.
  • Coordinate and implement activities for NPD projects with minimal supervision.
  • Validate critical new or modified equipment in the manufacturing process with control runs.
  • Create temporary process deviations documentation for process and material changes and implement ECN activities.
  • Design, quote, purchase, and implement fixtures, tools, and workstation improvements to support NPD and continuous improvement.
  • Audit and maintain industrial engineering process information like time studies and standard work.
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and ensure compliance across teams.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops and publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project management, Lean manufacturing, line balancing, and time study calculations.
  • Project implementation experience and proficiency with problem-solving techniques.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), PMAPs, VA/VE, and productivity generation tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Office, Minitab, AutoCAD, and Solidworks.
  • Proficient in ERP systems.
