About the position

The Senior Specialist, Network Systems Engineering is responsible for technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting of complex hardware/software systems for ground and airborne communication platforms. This role involves collaborating with various engineering disciplines to design and develop network architectures that support voice, video, and data capabilities across multiple security domains.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of physical and logical network architectures.
  • Maintain networks (both LAN & WAN) connecting airborne and ground systems via terrestrial and BLOS circuits.
  • Translate customer requirements into system-level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability methods and purposes.
  • Assist in systems engineering trade studies and evaluate their accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system-level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
  • Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Develop and execute network test procedures to ensure system performance meets requirements.
  • Prepare presentations to communicate technical network information to non-technical professionals.
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to design and integrate a cohesive network in a MILSTD based development environment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or Master's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge in network (LAN/WAN) design incorporating industry standard security best practices; NIST framework.
  • Intermediate network engineering experience including IP addressing, switching and routing, VLANs, VPNs, video teleconferencing, VoIP telephony, and LANs/WANs.
  • Intermediate experience in routing protocols including RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Experience with the Certification and Accreditation process for systems achieving Authorization to Operate on government networks.
  • DODAF knowledge.
  • Configuration, integration, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, voice, and video teleconferencing equipment.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing software and system test plans in a team environment.
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment, with the ability to lead small test teams through an entire build cycle.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Experience with Kubernetes deployment/administration.
  • Experience with SATCOM solutions/protocols.
  • Experience with HAIPE devices.
  • RedHat Enterprise: Linux experience.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers.
  • Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process knowledge.
  • Experience working on government and/or military programs.
