About the position

The Senior Specialist, Network Systems Engineer at L3Harris is responsible for the technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting of complex hardware/software systems for airborne and ground communication platforms. This role involves collaborating with a diverse engineering team to design and develop network architectures that support voice, video, and data capabilities across multiple security domains, ensuring that systems meet stringent performance and security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of physical and logical network architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Maintain networks (both LAN & WAN) connecting airborne and ground systems via terrestrial and BLOS (Beyond Line of Sight) circuits.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability methods and purpose.
  • Assist and/or perform systems engineering trade studies.
  • Assist in the evaluation of trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
  • Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Develop and execute network test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical network information to non-technical professionals.
  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines of engineering to design a cohesive multiple security domain network and integrate the resulting design in a MILSTD based development environment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or Master's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in network (LAN/WAN) design incorporating industry standard security best practices; NIST framework.
  • Intermediate network engineering experience including IP addressing, switching and routing, VLANs, VPNs, video teleconferencing, VoIP telephony, and LANs/WANs.
  • Intermediate experience in routing protocols including RIP, EGIRP, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Certification and Accreditation process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate on government networks.
  • DODAF knowledge.
  • Configuration, integration, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, voice, and video teleconferencing equipment.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing software and system test plans in a team environment.
  • Experience working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams through an entire build cycle.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
