About the position

The Procurement Sr. Specialist at L3Harris is responsible for planning and implementing procurement activities for materials, goods, and services while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves analyzing engineering drawings, sending RFQs, negotiating with suppliers, and contributing to process improvements. The position has the potential to evolve into a management role overseeing a team of around five direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings/schematics to understand procurement and manufacturing requirements.
  • Send RFQs to obtain quotes, examine bids, and make awards.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and/or services.
  • Review proposals, negotiate prices, select or recommend suppliers.
  • Source and purchase direct materials necessary for operation of the organization.
  • Ensure supplier compliance via an internet supplier portal (eXpo PO tracking) and responsible for item part data attribute accuracy.
  • Participate and contribute to departmental and company-wide process improvements and lean initiatives.
  • Sustain success metrics (Delivery, Cost, Lead Time, Inventory, etc.), incorporating best practices, and effectively communicating improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience purchasing parts and/or services in a medium to high volume environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Government and Commercial Contracting/Subcontracting managing supplier performance in the areas of technical scope, schedule, and cost.
  • History of having direct reports and interest in future people management.
  • Engineering or Technical Background.
  • Experience engaging with suppliers and analyzing suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • MRP Experience, Agile configuration.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Cost analysis and negotiation experience.
  • Experience and understanding of product specifications, statements of work (SOW), and terms and conditions.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot tables, macros, etc.
  • Global sourcing experience.
