About the position

As a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect for Database within the Financial Services sector at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will play a pivotal role in helping customers leverage AWS's Data & AI services to achieve their business objectives. This position is part of the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) Data & AI Go-To-Market (GTM) team, where you will be responsible for driving the adoption of AWS solutions by providing expert guidance and support throughout the customer engagement lifecycle. Your work will involve collaborating with various teams, including business development, technical solutions architecture, and sales, to create and execute go-to-market strategies that address complex customer challenges and turn AWS innovations into multi-billion-dollar business opportunities. In this role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in database technologies, helping customers design and implement solutions that utilize AWS's extensive Data & AI offerings. You will engage with customers to understand their unique needs, develop prototypes and proof of concepts, and provide technical advice that influences their architectural decisions. Your responsibilities will also include creating enablement materials for internal teams, developing white papers and reference architectures, and sharing best practices through public speaking engagements at events like AWS Summit and re:Invent. You will be expected to gather feedback from customers and translate it into actionable insights for product and engineering teams, ensuring that AWS services continue to evolve in alignment with customer requirements. To succeed in this position, you must possess a strong technical background in database development and administration, along with excellent communication skills that allow you to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, from executives to developers. Your ability to build relationships and influence decision-making will be crucial as you work closely with senior data architects, database SMEs, and AWS service teams to drive innovation and enhance customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Evangelize AWS Database services and share best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, white-papers, reference architectures and public-speaking events.
• Partner with Solutions Architects, Sales, Business Development, Data, and AI/ML Service teams to accelerate customer adoption and provide guidance on customer engagements.
• Act as a technical liaison between customers and the AWS Database services teams to provide customer-driven product improvement feedback.
• Develop and support an AWS internal community of Data-related subject matter experts worldwide.
• Create field enablement materials for the broader Solutions Architect population to help them understand how to integrate AWS GenAI solutions into customer architectures.
• Build prototypes, proof of concepts, and explore new solutions in collaboration with customers and the academic community.

Requirements

• 7+ years of design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications.
• 5+ years of management of technical, customer-facing resources.
• 5+ years of experience with Database technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises.
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
• Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers.
• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
• AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise.
• Computer Science or relevant degree and/or experience highly desired.
