About the position

The Sr Specialist Solutions Architect, Database at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a pre-sales role focused on assisting customers with their database workload challenges. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in both relational and non-relational databases, business acumen, and strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will work closely with AWS sales, business development, and product teams to design cloud-based solutions, refactor existing workloads, and ensure the success of complex customer engagements. The role emphasizes customer engagement, thought leadership, and collaboration within a dynamic pre-sales team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AWS field sales to support customers with their database workload challenges.
• Represent the voice of the customer to internal teams to drive the best outcomes for customers.
• Produce and validate content like reference architectures, best practice blogs, and other artifacts.
• Capture best-practices from engineering and field teams, share patterns and solutions.
• Collaborate with AWS field teams to build a strong worldwide database and analytics community.

Requirements

• 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience.
• Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs.
• Experience working with end user or developer communities.
