The Senior SQL Server Database Developer/Administrator at U.S. Bank plays a crucial role in the Treasury Management team, focusing primarily on database development and administration. This position involves gathering business requirements, designing database structures, writing SQL code, and collaborating with the web development team. The role also includes monitoring database performance, conducting testing, and providing training, ensuring that the databases effectively support the applications being developed.

  • Monitoring and maintaining the databases that support applications being developed
  • Making enhancements to certain applications supported by the group within the bank
  • Performing additional server maintenance to ensure the operating system is up to standard
  • Gathering business requirements and designing database structures
  • Writing SQL code and collaborating with the web development team
  • Handling testing, reporting, backup, and restores
  • Monitoring performance and assisting application developers with performance issues and application bugs
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 6 years' experience with tools, facilities, and techniques for managing and administering data
  • 3+ years' experience performing Database Development and Administration (preferably SQL Server)
  • 2+ years experience working on a development team, gathering requirements, designing and building databases, and testing application and database processes
  • Experience in setting up backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, and DBCC commands
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
  • Experience with installing and configuring SQL Servers and applying service packs as needed
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, connectivity issues, and security issues
  • Ability to work closely with application development personnel to ensure database design and structure align with application needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
