About The Position
The Sr SQL Server DBA position at Alrek Business Solutions, Inc. is a remote role that requires extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience managing SQL Server databases, particularly in mission-critical environments. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, including SQL Server upgrades, specifically migrating to SQL 2022, and performing service pack upgrades. The DBA will be responsible for building out SQL Servers, installing and configuring monitoring tools, and updating stored procedures as necessary. In addition to these tasks, the Sr SQL Server DBA will handle ServiceNow (SNOW) tickets, monitor and tune all SQL databases to ensure their availability, and oversee production databases and data processing jobs. The role also includes implementing and administering database replication, troubleshooting performance issues related to indexes, and fine-tuning queries and stored procedures. The DBA will coordinate with programmers and system administrators to manage database checkpoint frequencies, archive logging, and resource usage. A critical aspect of this position is creating capacity planning forecasts and establishing custom-tailored backup and restore procedures, as well as disaster recovery plans for production servers. The DBA will also be responsible for enhancing system availability and providing 24/7 production support. Candidates must possess a four-year degree or equivalent experience to qualify for this role.
