About the position

The Sr. Staff Azure Cloud Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, particularly focusing on Azure. This role involves providing support for a wide range of IT systems and services, including corporate virtualization environments. The engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, applying technical knowledge to solve issues across multiple IT environments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in projects and engineer new systems.
  • Monitor performance of critical servers and applications.
  • Manage the load configuration and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of hardware as well as the tuning of software.
  • Engage and manage 3rd-party vendors to achieve expedient resolution.
  • Use appropriate cloud services to design and deploy architecture and applications based on customer requirements.
  • Build highly available/fault-tolerant enterprise class infrastructure with multiple-region and multi-AZ models.
  • Create and maintain system documentation for specifications, designs, procedures, and logs.
  • Document all processes, system changes/fixes, and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of cloud migrations with high proficiency in IaaS, PaaS, SaaS environments primarily focused on Azure.
  • Strong operational implementation experience or working knowledge of cloud identity or access management solutions enforcing security guidelines.
  • Experience with Configuration Management and Configuration Orchestration tools, such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Powershell, Python, PHP).
  • Experience in improving security posture by performing assessments and analyses using tools like Ansible and Prisma.
  • Ability to design, develop, and maintain automation scripts using tools like Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience in implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery.
  • Knowledge of secure design principles throughout cloud architecture.
  • Experience in implementing least privilege access controls and monitoring security events.
  • Collaboration with security teams to address vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.
  • Focus on Microsoft Intune for device management, configuration, and security.
  • Experience in team leadership, cross-training, mentoring, and providing support for team members.
  • Ability to improve resiliency for all cloud applications and infrastructure, ensuring HA, DR, and Data Protection requirements are met.
  • Deep knowledge of networking topologies and engineering, including DNS, Load Balancers, Gateway Devices, and Web Application Firewalls.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure networking services such as Azure Virtual WAN, VNETS, and management of Azure Application/Network Security Groups.
  • Knowledge of security and IAM / Role Based Access Controls in Azure, Azure Policy, and Azure Management Groups and Subscriptions.
  • Familiarity with AWS design, architecture, and services (EC2, IAM, S3, ELB/ALB, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, ECS/EKS).
  • Experience with automating cloud native technologies, deploying applications, and provisioning infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of system monitoring in a cloud environment including cloud specific products and tools.
  • Experience with CMK (Customer Managed Keys) and BYOK (Bring Your Own Key).
  • Experience with AWS Workspace (VDI), Azure VDI, and creation of custom images.
