About the position

The Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific will be a key member of a senior-level team in San Jose, CA, focusing on the design and development of analytical instrumentation within the Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry organization. This role involves working on products that have significant impacts on human health, particularly in water and food safety technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design high precision analog and low frequency RF systems for scientific instruments.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept experiments and product improvements.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineering teams to bring products to market.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (M.S. degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of product development and commercialization design experience as a Hardware/Electrical engineer.
  • Experience designing precision analog circuits and low frequency RF circuits.
  • Expertise in analog circuits involving opamps, FETs, BJTs, etc.
  • Experience with analog laboratory test equipment including signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network analyzers.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of design and testing tools such as OrCAD, PSpice, Allegro, & DMM's.
  • Experience on a product development team from initial investigation to manufacturing introduction.
  • Solid understanding of CE and product safety regulatory standards.
  • Capable of leading and driving design of large electronic sub-systems.
  • Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
