About the position

The Enduser Computing Security Sr Staff Engineer at GEICO is responsible for providing strategic and technical direction in security for the tech, development, and corporate user compute experience. This role involves leading security detection and prevention strategies, transitioning from a traditional IT Security model to a tech organization focused on engineering excellence, and fostering a proactive security culture that enables business operations while protecting against threats.

Responsibilities

  • Influence and educate staff at all levels to adopt a security-minded approach to challenges.
  • Collaborate with managers, team members, and peer security teams to solve complex problems with minimal business impact.
  • Define roadmaps for securing endpoints with functional security measures.
  • Ensure the quality, usability, and functional validation of security solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance security measures and optimize tooling.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and guidelines for compliance with industry regulations.
  • Deliver automation initiatives and conduct advanced research to enhance security capabilities.
  • Provide demonstrations and communications to showcase the value of security measures to the business.
  • Work with business partners to derive and validate mitigation techniques for identified threats.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in security products and frameworks such as MDM, EDR, FIM, SIEM, EPM, DLP.
  • Extensive experience in offensive and defensive security roles with a strong hacker mindset.
  • Experience in communicating and presenting to both senior and junior staff.
  • Experience in a multi-platform environment including Linux, Mac, and Windows.
  • Experience with multiple Identity platforms from top-tier providers.
  • Ability to design and influence security detection and protection solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard security tools and frameworks including Mitre, CIS, and NIST.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in common scripting languages with examples of automation at scale.
  • Experience working with auditors and demonstrating security controls.
  • 8+ years in a security-focused role, preferably in the tech industry.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud providers.
  • 3+ years in a senior role influencing company direction on security.
  • 3+ years of experience with top Cloud Identity providers.
