About the position

The Sr Staff Engineer - Systems Engineering (Mechanical - Thermal Management Systems) position at GE Aerospace is a pivotal role that encompasses a comprehensive approach to systems engineering. This role is centered on the integration of both business and technical needs to deliver high-quality products that meet user requirements. The engineer will engage in a robust process that spans from concept through production to operation, ensuring that all system requirements are identified, quantified, and effectively managed. The position requires a deep understanding of design, creation, and optimization of systems, with a focus on thermal management within turbomachinery applications. In this role, the engineer will lead design activities at the component, module, and system levels, managing product and systems requirements, specifications, and their flowdown. The engineer will also drive validation and verification activities, ensuring that the overall product/system meets the necessary performance criteria through rigorous system-level testing. A key aspect of the role involves managing interfaces between design, systems, and execution organizations, establishing product requirements, and defining the architecture of components and subsystems. The engineer will be responsible for providing a forward-looking strategy for platform and technology development, ensuring that products remain competitive in the market. This includes defining scope management and contributing to strategy and policy development within their area of responsibility. The role requires a high level of operational judgment and the ability to make decisions or solve moderately complex problems, utilizing technical expertise and data analysis to support recommendations. The engineer will also serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues and may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Overall, this position demands strong communication and interpersonal skills, as the engineer will need to coordinate effectively with both internal and external partners, including senior leadership teams.
