About the position

The Sr Staff Hardware Development Engineer at Dexcom is a pivotal role responsible for leading the technical execution and success of hardware products within the organization. This position involves overseeing the end-to-end delivery of hardware engineering for multiple new products and programs, ensuring alignment with business goals, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration. The engineer will mediate technical discussions, balance project requirements, and provide functional expertise to drive optimal business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of all aspects of hardware engineering for multiple new products and programs.
  • Create strategic and tactical plans to achieve organizational goals.
  • Lead a cross-functional team through day-to-day operations to achieve goals.
  • Provide 'voice-of-function' in cross-functional decision making.
  • Accountable for functional deliverables and work with extended teams to generate and review them.
  • Maintain linkages to functional areas to ensure application of best practices and policies.
  • Lead functional reviews and contribute to the end-to-end development program.
  • Mediate technical discussions and decisions.
  • Balance technical requirements with project cost, timeline, and scope.
  • Provide functional expertise to assist teams in making optimal business decisions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 13+ years related experience, or a Master's degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience, or a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
  • Industry-leading expertise in one or more hardware engineering domains.
  • Proven track record in managing and executing through all stages of the product development life cycle.
  • Ability to align goals and coordinate activities between various engineering and management teams.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity and translate goals into clear strategic milestones and tactical execution plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly at all levels of the organization.
  • Emotional intelligence to handle interpersonal relationships efficiently and empathetically.
