About the position

The Sr. Staff Manufacturing / Process Modeling Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman will play a critical role in improving manufacturing processes and throughput for innovative supercomputing technologies. This position involves developing detailed simulation models, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with technical, schedule, and budget requirements. The engineer will also provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the advancement of microelectronics design and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Improve manufacturing processes and throughput through detailed modeling and evaluation of tools and equipment.
  • Develop, vet, and document robust simulation models to validate and optimize production systems.
  • Interface with manufacturing operators, test teams, and program management to gather data for model assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with technical, schedule, and budget requirements as per the program Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Develop and present detailed manufacturing model reports to stakeholders for feedback and process improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and expert guidance to junior systems engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 14 years of experience, a Master's degree with 12 years, or a PhD with 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in at least one major 3D Simulation tool (e.g., Plant Simulation, NX Line Designer, Process Simulate, Catia).
  • Demonstrated Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML) experience.
  • Experience interpreting and applying requirements from SOW, IMS, WBS, and other contractual milestones.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills across engineering disciplines and leadership levels.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with microelectronics fabrication and testing processes.
  • Experience modeling or working in manufacturing plants.
  • Ability to create flexible, robust models that adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Experience in major 3D Modeling tools (NX, Solidworks, Catia) and quick self-learning of new tools.
  • Experience using the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence) in an agile environment.
  • Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements (UAF).
  • Master's degree or PhD in STEM.
