About the position

The Sr. Staff Software Architect at Thermo Fisher Scientific will play a crucial role in defining and deploying the architectural roadmap for high-end electron microscopes used in semiconductor fabrication. This position involves making technical decisions regarding the software stack design, ensuring modularity and integration with third-party solutions, and collaborating with development teams and external partners to create a cohesive software ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deploy the architectural roadmap within the architecture team.
  • Own the technical choices regarding the entire software stack design, focusing on modularity and integration.
  • Present and clarify the architecture to development teams and external collaborators.
  • Collaborate with other architects to build a consistent software ecosystem at the division level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the software engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience with software architecture.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership of teams of 10+ developers.
  • Excellent analytical and empirical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create and communicate software designs in commonly used forms (C4, UML, etc.).
  • Ability to design inter-module and inter-process APIs and interfaces.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with equipment manufacturing, electron microscopy, or semiconductor.
  • Development experience with automated capital equipment.
  • Experience developing software for controlling hardware or multi-disciplinary development.
