About the position

The Lead Systems Engineer for the Mako program at Northrop Grumman is responsible for overseeing the space segment technical team, ensuring successful design, integration, and testing of complex space systems. This role combines leadership and individual contributor responsibilities, requiring a deep understanding of systems engineering principles and the ability to manage technical challenges while adhering to budget and schedule constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the entire space segment technical team.
  • Optimize space vehicle design, processing, and mission success.
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex problems encountered by the program.
  • Develop, author, and provide input to major program data products and deliverables.
  • Manage technical aspects of program elements.
  • Plan and conduct technical reviews and maintain the technical baseline.
  • Write status and technical performance reviews and reports.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff in their professional development.
  • Recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.

Requirements

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application.
  • B.S. in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related area with 14+ years of experience; Master's degree with 12+ years of experience; or PhD with 10+ years of experience.
  • Extensive technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems, including space systems development, manufacture, test, or operations.
  • Understanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration, and test.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active or current TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Experience in system architecture and CONOPs development.
  • Experience with integration and testing of spacecraft systems.
  • Familiarity with technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEO.
  • Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems.
