About the position

The Sr. Strategic Sales Manager will be responsible for developing new direct business opportunities within the Corporate Payments product portfolio in North America. This individual contributor role focuses on optimizing B2B payments and identifying new verticals for virtual cards, requiring a consultative sales approach and strong relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and qualifying opportunities with various businesses for virtual card payments in B2B transactions.
  • Creatively targeting the right companies and initiating contact with key decision-makers.
  • Managing the complete sales cycle from lead generation to closing deals and follow-up activities.
  • Effectively communicating WEX's market proposition and interpreting clients' needs to propose suitable solutions.
  • Developing strong client relationships with stakeholders across organizations.
  • Preparing high-quality presentations and proposals for new business pitches and bids.
  • Negotiating contracts and managing the sales process efficiently.
  • Providing timely and accurate revenue forecasting and management information.
  • Collaborating with internal operations teams to optimize the sales process and ensure client service delivery.
  • Maintaining up-to-date records in Salesforce and Account Management systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8-10 years of direct sales, account, or channel management experience.
  • Proven ability to generate leads and a hunter mentality.
  • Experience in B2B payments and knowledge of the virtual payment industry is a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial services and complex solution sales processes.
  • Ability to participate in strategy development and lead attainment of critical objectives.
  • Proven track record of managing business development activities to achieve growth targets.
  • Successful experience in building and maintaining relationships with senior executives and technical contacts.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in building trust, accountability, and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of exceeding annual sales quotas.
  • Skilled in presenting ideas effectively to individuals or groups.
