About the position

The Senior Structural Design Engineer / Project Manager will play a pivotal leadership role within a collaborative team, focusing on structural design and project management for water control infrastructure projects. This position requires a seasoned civil engineering professional with extensive experience in structural modular construction and a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license. The role emphasizes technical expertise, project management, and business development, contributing to the company's vision and enhancing team capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the structural design process for various water control projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Conduct thorough structural analysis and computational modeling to evaluate complex structures under various loading conditions.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for regulatory submissions.
  • Review and approve design documentation prepared by junior engineers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  • Participate in design review meetings and value engineering sessions to optimize design performance.
  • Provide technical support during construction activities, addressing field challenges and conducting site inspections.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in structural engineering, incorporating innovative solutions into designs.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering their professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred.
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, focusing on water control infrastructure projects.
  • Previous precast work experience preferred, including design and technical analysis of precast structures.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural design and construction.
  • Proficiency with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, Onshape, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or similar tools.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling and analysis software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM) is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing complex engineering projects.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hydraulic modeling and analysis software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM) is preferred but not required.
