About the position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer to join their Temporary Works Group. This role involves innovative design engineering to support various construction processes, ensuring safety and efficiency. The engineer will engage in brainstorming conceptual designs, performing structural calculations, developing plans, and scheduling tasks to meet client needs while mitigating risks. The position is integral to the success of Kiewit's projects, particularly in design-build tasks related to temporary structures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop drawings and calculations for temporary works and construction methods including heavy lift plans, erection procedures, and evaluation of existing structures.
  • Conduct structural analysis to ensure stability during temporary conditions of new structures.
  • Support excavation systems or cofferdams for construction below grade.
  • Perform and/or review calculations and design drawings according to industry codes and standards.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of design deliverables and assist with risk mitigation planning.
  • Assist in project management including budgets, schedules, and client communication.
  • Provide on-site design engineering support and conduct inspections.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility within the United States.
  • Strong academic knowledge of structural engineering.
  • Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MathCAD, Navisworks, RISA-3D.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with temporary structures and/or construction engineering in various industries.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
