The Senior Structural Engineer/Designer will be responsible for designing structural systems across a diverse range of project types, including but not limited to manufacturing, distribution, data centers, commercial buildings, self-storage facilities, churches, historical structures, public sector projects, retail spaces, adaptive reuse projects, and renovations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of existing facility analysis and the ability to create innovative structural solutions tailored to each project's unique requirements. In this position, the engineer will interact directly with clients and participate in meetings with architects and contractors to ensure that all structural documentation meets the necessary standards. The role involves managing and supervising junior staff, providing mentorship, and fostering a collaborative team environment. The Senior Structural Engineer/Designer will prepare design calculations and oversee the preparation of construction documents, ensuring that all shop drawings and submittals are thoroughly reviewed. Site reviews will also be a critical part of the role, along with preparing responses to Requests for Information (RFIs). Coordination across all disciplines is essential to ensure that deliverables align with client expectations and maintain high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing with various materials, including wood, steel, load-bearing light gauge steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and masonry, specifically in low to mid-rise structures. Additionally, experience in shallow and deep foundation system design is required. Candidates should possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering, demonstrating a proactive approach to learning and improvement. A professional engineering license is mandatory, along with seismic design experience. The ability to identify and apply relevant codes specific to project jurisdictions is crucial. Familiarity with Revit is preferred, as is the capability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in industry-standard software, including Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, and Adapt, is also necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is project management experience and the ability to demonstrate leadership within a team setting.
