About the position

The Senior Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in leading civil engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, particularly focusing on onshore wind projects. This remote position, based in the U.S., involves supporting the Civil Engineering Center of Excellence and contributing to the expansion of civil design services. The engineer will act as the subject matter expert for wind turbine foundation design and oversee various civil engineering tasks related to renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the civil engineering aspects of renewable energy projects, particularly onshore wind projects.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for wind turbine foundation design and collection system layout.
  • Define requirement specifications for foundation and civil balance of plant designs and review those designs.
  • Act as the Owner's Engineer or provide due diligence services to investors.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of design documents, reports, and calculations, providing technical guidance and recommendations for design improvements.
  • Project manage Owner's Engineer onshore wind scopes, including project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Manage the development of wind turbine foundation designs and optimize collection system layouts.
  • Oversee balance of plant design, including access roads, crane pads, substation grading, and layout.
  • Conduct site visits during project construction to verify implementation of civil designs and review construction quality.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders and provide clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Support regional offices and other departments on foundation and balance of plant related matters.
  • Manage geotechnical and survey contractors.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering; Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position within the renewable industry.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, Plaxis, ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ANSI, ACI, ASME, ASTM, IBC).
  • Experience in engineering consultancy preferred.
  • Good organizational skills and a structured working approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and dedicated to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to support multiple teams and flexibility in day-to-day tasks.
  • Structured, analytical mindset with attention to detail and high ethical standards.
