About the position

The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for developing structural design parameters and performing engineering analysis, calculations, and code interpretations for Energy Facilities. This role involves both engineering and project management responsibilities, ensuring that structural designs meet project objectives and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform steel structural analysis and design of equipment skids, platforms, pipe, and cable tray racks.
  • Design concrete structures including retaining walls and foundations for various equipment and piping arrangements.
  • Create demolition plans, rebar schedules, material take-offs, and structural bills of materials.
  • Coordinate and communicate project-specific structural deliverables with team members across disciplines.
  • Research and integrate company standards, municipality requirements, and regulatory codes into project deliverables.
  • Review site-specific geotechnical reports for foundation design.
  • Conduct independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables.
  • Review other discipline deliverables to ensure structural designs align with project objectives.
  • Perform field-related work to gather design pertinent information.
  • Review and respond to project RFIs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review detailed shop fabrication drawings to ensure compatibility with structural design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, licensed in Texas preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the midstream energy or petrochemical sector.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, SAFE, and L-Pile Structural Programs, Plant 3D Structure, and CADWorx.
  • Familiarity with codes/standards such as NFPA 30, API 650, API 653, API RP 2350, Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199, 40 CFR 112, 40 CFR 264, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, ACI 318, ASCE 7, OSHA, AISC, and IBC.
  • Strong attention to detail and process orientation with a focus on accuracy and urgency.
  • Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively with other engineering and design teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
