About the position

The Substation Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects. This role involves overseeing the development of engineering designs, ensuring quality deliverables, and interfacing with clients as a Senior Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-level engineering designs for electric substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.
• Create physical layouts of equipment and protection/control logic.
• Supervise subordinate engineers and designers to ensure quality of design deliverables.
• Specify and procure engineered equipment for projects.
• Develop design scope and cost estimates for projects.
• Interface with clients and communicate effectively as the Senior Engineer.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with power-related courses or relevant experience.
• Eight or more years of hands-on experience as a Substation Electrical Engineer with high voltage substation design.
• Professional Engineering Registration (PE) and/or EIT designation.
• Strong knowledge of substation design methods and their applications.
• Proficiency in software programs such as Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or CDEGS.
• Experience working on engineering teams and managing multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with high-voltage, medium-voltage, and EHV substation engineering.
