About the position
The Substation Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects. This role involves overseeing engineering designs for substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV, ensuring quality deliverables, and interfacing with clients as a Senior Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-level engineering designs for electric substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.
- Create physical layout of equipment and protection/control logic.
- Supervise subordinate engineers and designers to ensure quality of design deliverables.
- Specify and procure engineered equipment for projects.
- Develop design scope and cost estimates for projects.
- Interface with clients and communicate effectively as the Senior Engineer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with power-related courses or relevant experience.
- Eight or more years of hands-on experience as a Substation Electrical Engineer working with high voltage substation design.
- Professional Engineering Registration (PE) and/or EIT designation.
- Strong knowledge of substation design methods and their application.
- Proficiency with software programs such as Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or CDEGS.
- Experience in participating on engineering teams and managing multiple projects.
