About the position
The Senior Supervisor Insurance Underwriting role at Ally Financial is designed to support auto dealer partners by providing physical damage coverage for their inventory. This position involves evaluating risks, overseeing a team of Underwriting Associates, and ensuring engagement and productivity within the team. The Senior Supervisor will also act as a consultant and leader on the commercial underwriting team, managing new and renewal business while participating in strategic goals for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a consultant and leader on the commercial underwriting team.
- Act in a capacity to producers, customer service, and claims personnel as required.
- Work on special projects and assist in managing dealer inventory programs.
- Underwrite new and renewal business for multiple insurance programs.
- Submit complex or unusual risks to the appropriate party for handling.
- Be responsible for the profitable performance of assigned accounts or territories.
- Oversee a team of 2-3 Underwriting Assistants/Associates.
- Accountable for engagement and productivity of direct reports.
- Gather and track performance measurements for the Underwriting Assistant Team.
- Provide mentorship and recognition to employees based on performance.
- Participate in the hiring process for new Underwriting Assistants.
- Provide feedback and updates on employee performance to Underwriting Managers.
- Conduct bi-weekly meetings with Underwriting Assistants to discuss performance and growth opportunities.
- Coordinate with Account Management Team Leaders on new business and renewals.
- Provide solutions to complex situations within the team.
Requirements
- 4+ years in underwriting, financial services, or a similar industry.
- Prior leadership and insurance underwriting experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline preferred or a combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
