The Sr System Admin for IBM AIX Servers and Storage will report directly to the AIX Infrastructure Services Team Lead and will provide central accountability for all AIX Infrastructure Server System Administration Services. This role encompasses activities associated with the installation, maintenance, and technical support of existing and future AIX-based system configurations and supporting systems software, including operating systems, utilities, databases, and middleware. These services are essential for delivering the required services hosted on these platforms that support the customer's business applications. As the senior technical resource, the Sr System Admin will provide systems engineering and system administration services for which the AIX Infrastructure Server team is accountable. This includes provisioning and managing the Data Center's existing and future server environment using ITIL processes. The Sr System Admin is responsible for delivering highly responsive and flexible AIX infrastructure server services to the County of Orange. Key responsibilities include providing senior-level AIX Infrastructure Server design and engineering solutions tailored to meet client needs. The role involves system engineering and administration tasks such as configuration and performance optimization, access controls, file management, disk space management, applying APARs, and configuring and managing LPARs. The Sr System Admin will also review, install, configure, test, and implement new releases of AIX operating system software, focusing on quick deployment and recovery using tools like IBM's Network Installation Manager (NIM) and cloning via MKSYSB images. Additionally, the position requires analyzing IBM Power 8 server hardware and AIX operating system software problems, providing storage administration support for IBM V7000 Storage systems, and developing and maintaining IBM AIX system utility programs and scripts in the Korn Shell (KSH) to automate routine tasks. The Sr System Admin will install, test, and provide technical support, administration, and security administration for hardware and software to ensure service delivery meets Service Level Requirements (SLRs). This includes installing code fixes for all AIX services elements and providing onsite support as required, coordinating with third-party providers for ticket resolution. Documentation and maintenance of operational procedures for the AIX Infrastructure Server System Administration services team are also key responsibilities. The Sr System Admin will interface with Data Center Tower Leadership, technical support personnel, ITSM service delivery personnel, Application Support personnel, and contract support personnel.
