About the position

The Sr. System Control Integration Engineer at Tesla Energy plays a crucial role in integrating software, hardware, and mechanical design to support the company's mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy. This position focuses on the hardware and firmware integration of Tesla's next-generation superchargers and industrial energy storage systems, emphasizing collaboration and innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware and firmware integration of next generation Tesla superchargers and industrial energy storage.
  • Conduct hands-on testing, debugging, and troubleshooting on product hardware and software.
  • Design and implement next generation automated test sequences to capture BESS system with grid interaction behavior.
  • Lead and own test plan definition for new firmware and software features with continuous feedback for new hardware revisions.
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve issues with hardware and firmware during system bring up, utility performance, and grid contingency tests.
  • Act as a key leader of FMEA as part of the product design, integration, and test process.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering related field or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and software engineering components and an understanding of their interaction in complex products.
  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems.
  • Effective communicator with excellent attention to detail.
  • Understanding of hardware and software development processes.
  • Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability.
  • Working understanding of how grid-tied storage systems function and interact with the grid.

Nice-to-haves

  • AC connected power electronics control design/test background and systems integration experience.
  • Fluent with the embedded microprocessor design process: compilers, debuggers, and Git.
  • Experience with renewable energy products and/or electricity distribution systems.
