About the position

Seyond is looking for a Sr. System Engineer who will work closely with all engineering teams and the field applications team to enhance our LiDAR systems. The role involves becoming an expert on our LiDAR products, optimizing their performance for various use cases, and conducting experiments to validate their capabilities under different environmental conditions. The engineer will also be responsible for product demonstrations, training workshops, and providing customer support for LiDAR integration issues. Additionally, the role includes gathering customer feedback to inform product development and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Become an expert on our LiDAR products, optimizing their performance for diverse and specific use cases.
  • Design and execute experiments, as well as collect data to validate the performance and capabilities of LiDAR products under various environmental conditions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and lead training workshops to effectively communicate the advantages of our LiDAR technology to customers.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to drive continuous performance improvements, address technical inquiries, and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for both internal teams and customers to facilitate understanding and usage of our LiDAR systems.
  • Provide timely customer support and troubleshoot LiDAR integration issues encountered in the field.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to help shape product development, feature enhancements, and strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of experience working with LiDAR or other sensors; OR Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience; OR PhD degree.
  • Proficient coding skills in Python or MATLAB for simulation automation and data analysis.
  • 5 years' experience in Linux and Windows operating systems. Familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of complex optical systems, lasers, photodetectors, and associated components is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges independently.
  • Solid grounding in algorithms and simulations. Experience in data processing, signal processing, and image processing is highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously and effectively.
  • Quick learner with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed (up to 20%).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Robot Operating System (ROS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of complex optical systems, lasers, photodetectors, and associated components is a plus.
