Tesla Energy is at the forefront of the transition to sustainable energy, and we are seeking a Senior System Integration & Validation Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, California. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration of our cutting-edge battery technology into the grid, which includes residential, industrial, and utility-scale applications. In this position, you will be responsible for designing automation platforms that facilitate the integration of hardware and firmware for next-generation Tesla industrial energy storage systems. You will create and execute comprehensive test plans that include automation sequences and detailed post-analysis to ensure the reliability and performance of our systems. Your role will also involve developing Python code and validating embedded firmware in C and C++. You will be tasked with identifying, escalating, and resolving issues that arise during system bring-up, performance, and safety tests, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. As a Senior Engineer, you will utilize tools such as dashboards and Jenkins jobs to monitor test stations and execute automation actions, maintaining the health of our testing infrastructure. Your hands-on experience with software automation development, combined with your understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components, will be crucial in driving the success of our projects. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also an effective communicator with exceptional analytical problem-solving skills. You should be proactive, engaged, and able to take full accountability for your assignments, even in challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform automation platform design for hardware and firmware integration of next generation Tesla industrial energy storage systems
  • Create and execute new hardware and firmware feature test plan with automation sequence and detailed post analysis
  • Develop Python code and validate embedded firmware in C, C++
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve issues with hardware and firmware during system bring up, performance, and safety tests
  • Use dashboard and Jenkins job to monitor test station and execute automation action to maintain the health of the test station

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with software automation development and understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components
  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems
  • Effective communicator with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive and positive attitude, owning assignments and taking full accountability
  • Fluent with Python and embedded microprocessor design process including compilers, debuggers, and Git
  • Familiar with Linux, CI/CD, REST API, Jenkins, Docker
  • Experience working with databases and dashboarding tools such as SQL, InfluxDB, Grafana
  • Experience validating automation on actual hardware platforms is preferred
