About the position

As a Senior System Technical Program Manager at Amazon Lab126, you will lead hardware engineering teams in the development of innovative consumer electronics from concept to mass production. This role involves managing schedules, reporting on engineering issues, defining mitigation strategies, and ensuring effective communication with senior management regarding project progress and risks.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with cross-disciplinary teams to conceive and design innovative consumer products.
  • Work with key stakeholders in product management and executive teams to define strategy and requirements.
  • Deep dive on key technical issues and lead teams to find solutions within program constraints.
  • Own cross-functional development schedules.
  • Lead cross-functional development on new technology from design through mass production, working across all hardware disciplines.
  • Collaborate with remote teams globally and travel to Asia for prototype builds to test and validate product designs.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks, and drive key decision-making.
  • Manage resource prioritization, drive cost down efforts, and prevent common development pitfalls.
  • Lead key product development milestones following a waterfall style development within hardware.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.
  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience.
  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience.
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years hardware design or development experience, preferably in consumer electronics.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.
  • Experience with management reporting and strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity when dealing with complex problems and drive consensus across organizations.
