Sr. Systems Administrator

About the position

The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software in both physical and virtual environments, specifically within Windows and Unix/AIX systems. This role involves ensuring the integrity and performance of all new hardware and infrastructure software, implementing enhancements, and providing technical support to project teams and junior staff. The position also includes monitoring system performance, providing Tier 3 technical support, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain systems hardware and software in Windows and Unix/AIX environments.
• Implement operating system enhancements to improve system reliability and performance.
• Recommend upgrades or enhancements to support the technical environment and meet business needs.
• Support hosted client/end user environments such as Citrix.
• Monitor performance of all systems to ensure availability of data, applications, and computing resources.
• Provide assistance to project teams with technical issues and on-the-job training to junior staff.
• Provide Tier 3 technical support and 24x7 on-call services for supported environments.
• Develop and maintain documentation including configuration, design, maintenance, audit, and change management records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Required).
• 5 years of experience with IT technical support (Required).
• 5 years of experience with IT infrastructure support (Required).
• 1 year of experience working in a healthcare/hospital environment (Preferred).
• CISSP - Cert Info Sys Security Prof (Preferred).
• MCITP - Microsoft Cert IT Professional (Preferred).
• MCSE - Microsoft Cert Solutions Expert (Preferred).
